HELP!! CMGS problem!
Cabriolet
Sun, 07/03/2011 - 01:12
I have no idea how the two are related, but I got my oil changed, reset the service light and then **boom** all of a sudden my flow bar is not lighting up anymore on my cmgs , v1.08 btw, and I cannot get my meth kit to work. I have no idea what happened, I went through the videos posted on youtube and checked the settings. The only setting that the youtube video that relates to jb3 2.0 mapping (which is what I have) fails to cover is parameter number 17, which has values that can be set from 0,1,2,3. Maybe that has something to do with it, but I have set it to each value and tried and still nothing. Thank you for any advice!!

Now then I think I know the answer to this one but just wondered if anyone has had similar happen to them. The house was built many years ago 25 ish in an Urb of 40. The Urb had a name, the houses the number. Muy facile. Now for one reason or another ( I may know the answer but it matters not in this tale ) the ayunta gives the streets, short or long ones, a name... at least 3 words long NOT including the Calle part, mine had 4 words plus the Calle and a number. !!!! Now street names mean the numbers are all wrong so when very few changed their number to the ones they were issued with they came along and painted one on for you lovely ! I had enough problems and had bought a new number ...as an aside I suppose they kindly charged us for purchase of said numbers, paint and time for man/men who did it. Anyway the query is who is going to pay for all the escrituras to be re done  :D

silver trim on the steering wheel
Cabriolet
Sat, 07/02/2011 - 08:42
Hi guys, I took my car in because I needed to replace the multi-function buttons on the steering wheel. They replaced the buttons for me, but the silver trim on the left side is loose and it won't attach completely. Does anyone know if the silver trim is a part of the trim or how you're suppose to disassemble it so I can fix it? Thanks!

Well, the install of my icarbon front lip turned into a disaster. While trying to install the front I section I needed to pull part of the lip down to make a slight adjustment. Well, even though I was being cautious and the lip was only half installed, the front mating surface broke and separated from the rest of the lip. I tried to salvage it but it just wasn't possible. This is eff'ing horrible, the lip is unusable and I don't think there is anything I can do. I am frustrated beyond words right now. I feel sick when I think about how much I spent and the drama just to get it delivered. And all I came away with was a scratched bumper. Anyways, I'm done screwing with it for tonight. I'll inspect the bumper and see if it managed to get away unscathed...doubtful. I think I need a drink.

Signs pointing towards 240 hp turbo 4 cyl in future 128i?
Cabriolet
Fri, 07/01/2011 - 23:31
BMW just announced the 2012 528i will be getting a 4-cyl turbo with 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque from a 2.0-liter gas-burning engine. This is an announcement for the US market, with units arriving in fall, replacing the current 3.0 6-cyl NA engine. If this 2.0 4-cyl is going to be the new corporate BMW replacement engine for the current 3.0 6-cyl throughout the BMW line, it should show up in the 128i in a future release. This opens the doors for lots of "vs." threads. Like, which would be better, a stock 135i vs. a tuned 128i turbo 4? Or Stock 128i turbo 4 vs. 128i 3.0 NA? Or stock WRX turbo 4 vs. stock 128i turbo 4? This could get interesting.

Local Newspapers are they putting off Prospective Buyers?
Malaga Blog
Fri, 07/01/2011 - 11:20
Some of the dramatic "Scandel in Spain" headlines in some local newspapers are definately putting off prospective buyers. Over 850,000 Brits live in Spain happy in there homes purchased without problems. Less than 1% have been affected by Land Grab, Coastal Laws and unfinished properties. These Local Papers don't realise the damage they are doing to there own futures. I feel for anyone who has been genuinley "ripped off" they should be compensated, but some tried to buy properties without lawyers, others built houses on rustic land. Yet still are moaning. The housing market in Spain has to bounce back. It needs support not hinderance. If the sales of housing in Spain increase it benefits every single one of us.

Some may recognize me from, "Other car forums," however, I thought it was appropriate to post a quick introduction after I finally acquired my 2012 135i DCT, black Msport, blah blah, and my initial impressions are amazing. First, the car is simply a wonderful daily driver, a true drivers car. I was completely blown away by the DCT system (i'm a manual guy at heart), not to mention I was sold after it reminded me a lot of one of my older cars as that also had a single turbo I6. Simple fantastic. Anyways, even before purchasing the car, I spoke to Terry with Burger Performance... as it appears he is one of the few N55 tuners in the area (socal). I'll wait to give my full review in the performance section of the forum, but he immediately returned my emails. Full review on this later. During my search, I stopped into Shelly BMW in Buena Park, and noticed a lowered le Mans blue 135i parked. The car looked fantastic and I had to find out who the owner. Needless to say it was the sales manager, Derrick, who immediately showed me his car, started it up, and had a few minutes talking about the modifications he had done etc. Then he showed me the new 135M... I didn't appreciate the car enough until I saw it in person. The proportions alone are not truly seen in the pictures. The car looks absolutely wicked. O, (Derrick, if you read this sorry buddy, next BMW I will get through you). But if any of you guys are looking for a new BMW, definitely give him a call. So, on that note, I had to join the forum. Now, time to get modding. Safe driving everyone, and I will take a look at some of the local car events in the near future. :happyanim: -Matt

got hit from behind by a uninsured Illegal...

Fri, 07/01/2011 - 07:00
Quick question, got hit tonight buy a lady that was pregnant, uninsured, and Illegal in the States. In a 20 year old chevy pick up. For some reason i talked to her and walked away. Being English, living in America I know how hard it was for me to legally be here.. Hence my instinct to leave her and go about my way. I digress, but my question is this. I have a 08 128i in Jet back. The bumper is scratched enough that i have to replace. It is however not bad enough that any of the frame is bent. In fact it all lines up perfect. where is the best place to buy a new OEM bumper? Barring in mind Im gonna pay out of pocket for this to save this women alot of hassle...

Am I the only one to think that the 135i is pretty quick outta the box??

I have to say this car is a little Demon! It is quick and nimble. I drove vettes before (C5's and C6's 8 total) and Porchse (EVT 700 08 997TT and 08 997 C4S with tons of mods) but this car is a whole different class all by itself. Liking it more and more everyday. BMW did a great job on it even though it needs a few suspension tweaks and other little things... So I thought I would share this out loud!:drink:

BMW detecting erased ECU

Cabriolet
Thu, 06/30/2011 - 18:09
Hi Guys Iv Just heard from my dealer that my car has just started being built in the factory does anyone know how long it takes to be built den shipped I was told end of july early august?? I was told wen i ordered in may around the13th it would be 10 weeks but changes depending on models has anyone else ordered a diesel and how long did it take?? Iv heard sometimes if you order a higher spec it takes longer. I Ordered a 120d M Sport Auto coupe in Vermillion Red with Bostan Red Leathers and light walnut wood( I went for abit of a daring trim iv had alot of BMz N thot might aswell with *Xenonz( cant live without them now since my 330d has em on) Must Have *Elec Sunroof *Harmon kardon Speakers * Folding auto dim mirrors *Sat Nav Pro HU With Internet and bluetooth * USB Port(cant believe this does not come standard with the sat nav) * Comfort Package ( extended storage, PDC Front n rear, Rain n headlight sensor, Cruise control * Gearshift paddles on steering wheel * servotronic steering *18" 261M ( the 17" just looked way too ugly this is not an option but a must) * high gloss shadowline with anthracite headlining and extended light package * and the usual M Sport additions body kit door seals sport seats etc.. I didnt get heated seats or electrics Should I have??? the thing putting me off is i can pay the price but didnt really see it as worth it+adds alot of weight to the car. Is there anything in the spec i missed out now that my build is starting in the factory i cant take anything off but i can add. I also Order BMWP Black front Grill and BMWP alluminium strut brace and foot pedals. Im Also Thinking of getting the BMWP Engine Kit for da 120d makes it near enough a 123d spec but without the shorter gear ratio that alot of people complain about. also Iv seen bmw show off the 120d in bmwp kit with exhaust does anyone know if or when they will the selling it or has that been scrapped. nd I KNOW PEOPLE WILL BE THINKING OF THE COLOUR BUT THINK ABOUT IT WOMEN R JUST LIKE BULLS THEYL SEE ALL THE RED AND COME CHARGING TOWARDS ME LOL. Special - Pensions Week
11/26/2010 - 11:23

From the reaction and feedback I get on my Blog, it is clear that the wider subject of 'Pensions' is one of the main issues for expats and people intending to move to Spain. 'Special - Pensions Week' came from that feedback. Each day a different topic has been covered;

Monday - Introduction and some brief summaries
Tuesday - QNUPS, Qualifying Non-UK Pension Scheme
Wednesday - QROPS, comparing jurisdictions
Thursday - Focus on New Zealand as a financial centre
Friday - Pension Reciprocation Plan, the most innovative new plan I have seen

All of the articles can be accessed from the main page of the Blog at Financial Pages in Spain

I hope that this is helpful and informative. As always please give feedback or ask any questions by emailing me.

Low prices for car hire Malaga airport in winter
12/01/2010 - 13:08

Winter is a excellent season for coming to Malaga and also is for our budget. The demand for holidays in Malaga is growing every day and we can find great offers for car hire Malaga airport. Have you ever considered hiring a car at the airport?, if not what would you think if I say that prices go from 7 euro per day for 1 week car rental in Malaga?
Coming in winter to Malaga is becoming more popular every year due the excellent micro climate present during the whole year in Malaga. The temperature in the city and the Costa del Sol is milder than in any other part of Andalucia.
If our planning in Malaga includes touring the city, a 7 euro daily car hire is a cheap price if we compare to using public transport daily; A taxi from Torremolinos to Malaga airport as example costs 15 euro actually and from Malaga airport to Malaga city by taxi costs close to 10 euro, bus is cheaper but if we take it a few times per day and we take in consideration that bus stops are not close to where we want to go, car hire in Malaga stills a great choice.

Hello - Buying villa this year moving out 2 years
12/01/2010 - 15:04

Newbie!
Hi all. I am currently looking for a 4 bed villa ready for us to relocate.

Currently live in sunny Sheffield, we will be moving in a couple of years when my eldest goes to university. We (Glenn & Ann-Marie) will then be bringing with us our youngest Alfie who will then be 12 so we will have to be near a private International school for him.

Fortunate enough that we have retired at a relatively young age so there will be no work or financial issues but we are sooooo ready for a change in lifestyle.

We are looking for somewhere with a decent mixture of nationalities, and unlike many people on these forums we are not trying to get away from Brits, just our daily grind over here. Our priority will be an area where there are plenty of children for my son to make friends with, so almost certainly an expat community will help with this. We dont want to be too far inland but we dont want to be anywhere that attracts Stag or hen parties if you know what I mean!

We are very sociable, I love my golf and the wife her coffee and gossip, so a community feeling with a focal meeting area, (such as square, plaza, club, bars, restaurants, golf etc) is a must. We love other peoples company!

After holidays and property trips we have put an offer in for a large villa in Villamartin, as this seems to tick a lot of the boxes. This is currently in the process of repossession by the bank so nothing will happen soon and we are still looking just in case.

We are considering apart from Villamartin Ciudad Quesada & the Javier region on the CB as well as Callahonda and Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol. I am sure there are many places we do not know of yet so please enlighten us so we can check them out
